Tubas at ITEC

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what dealers will have their stock at ITEC? I have a student who's shopping for a 4/4 piston CC.

I spoke to Dillon and they're not bringing out their instruments, just accessories. I didn't see Baltimore Brass on the list of exhibitors. The manufacturers are listed, but from what I understand they can't sell direct. So where can an enterprising young man (with cash, money!) go to buy a tuba off the floor at ITEC?

I have heard it was possible to buy horns that manufacturers have through dillon music or other "dealers". The specifics have to be worked out, but that's the basic idea.

If you have the money, I see no reason why they wouldn't sell you the horn there?

I will have tons of music for sale there. Cash, credit card, check, etc.. accepted!

I am on my way there now and sitting in a gas station in west Kansas checking email. I thought it would take 3 days to drive, but will make it in 2. Basically I will be there later tonight.

Please stop by the Cimarron Music Press/BVD Press booth and say hello. We will have lots of new charts from Cimarron. Charts from CD's:

Oystein Baadsvik
Alan Baer
Adam Frey
Patrick Stukmeyer
new 20-minute warmup book by Gene Pokorny
etc.

Sorry no horns at my booth!

Based on the ITEC website, the only dealers that will be at ITEC with horns are Custom Music, and Woodwind Brasswind!? Does anybody know for sure if any other dealers will be present? Thanks!

Part of a dealer agreement is that the manufacturer will not sell merchandise directly to the consumer. When it comes to shows, the manufacturers come and display but technically cannot sell - they let their dealers do that. Does that mean you cannot buy a horn? Nope. Generally they will set up a deal with a dealer for you, paperwork goes through the dealer, you walk out with a horn. I've seen this happen many times!
