sleep 9 minutes, bass bone elbows you,you wake up and play 35 or so notes, back to sleep til the end... range from around g below the staff to c or d in the staff. probably the 2nd lowest # of notes second only to New World...

Better yet, a Sony PSP, watch movies, play games, listen to music, and if the rehearsal hall has WIFI, surf the internet!austuba wrote:...if they want you for every rehearsal i hope youve got a game boy.

I know that there are jesters, about, and I know that Steve knows better, but tuba rests are simply opportunities for you to further your musical knowledge and enlightenment. Bring the score and follow along. A translation will help, too, unless German is one of your languages. I played the "Gloria" by Poulenc with the Manhattan Phil. in 1989(?) and was apalled to see the 2nd bassoonist reading "Star Wars" during the rehearsal. A truly sad commentary, now backed up by respected posters.....
