President's Own to be on Fox News Sunday

Post by Kevin Miller »

Check your listings for Fox News Sunday on your local Fox broadcast channel. Michael Colburn is scheduled to be interviewed by Chris Wallace. In case you miss the morning broadcast, the show is rebroadcast on the Fox News Channel later in the day. I'm sure some video of the band will accompany the interview.

I saw a shot of Mark Theile doin' us proud on the sousaphone! And of course Jon Cradler's head and Cameron's tuba valves (I think?). What I thought was funny was that the Army Herald trumpets were featured prominently probably by mistake? Obviously the research department at Fox did a shotty job. :)

If you missed it on Sunday - they have it on the foxnews website now
Go to:
http://www.foxnews.com/fns/

Then several boxes down on the left will be Power Player of the Week. Click on that to bring up the video.

It should be there all week - but may disappear after that

Every shot of the White House steps was of the US Army Band Herald Trumpets. The guy with the baton looked like my Captain. The other shots at the White House with the Japanese Prime Minister and the President or the United States of America doing an inspection were The US Marine Band in their oh so fashionable red coats.

The tuba player in question

Post by Ivan Giddings »

Chris Tiedeman is the tuba player you see playing the G&W mouthpiece in the ensemble. Chris was very helpful in the design of both the Caver and the Diablo tuba mouthpieces, he spent a good deal of time playing, and testing new design during a Christmas break he had a few years ago. The Diablo and Caver tuba mouthpieces were developed as a result of this testing.

That was a great shot of Mark Theile performing on the sousaphone for the inauguration. I believe that was in 2005.

I took a close notice of the mouthpiece used. It's clear it was a plastic one, given the cold weather that day. But was that in gold or silver color?

Looked like a Harvest Gold Kellyberg to me; I see them being used pretty often on Fridays.

Wow, I didn't know we had herald trumpets. They sound pretty good. Thiele looks super under that sousaphone. We need to see more of that, methinks.

Fox News Sunday has just started making podcasts (audio) of their programs available. You can probably count on that being around longer than the video clip, and it's also downloadable to your computer if you want to keep it. The podcast address to put into your reader is here:
