Weril vs Yamaha
The Weril J680 is widely touted as a copy of the Yamaha 621. The bell shape and wrap are decidedly similar but the leadpipe on the Weril must be 3 times as long as the Yamaha. Not having had the chance to play test the Weril, I am wondering if it can really play close enough to be called a copy? Anyone have any experience with these?

I played both at Dillon's around the time the Weril CC first came out. My reaction back then was that they were very similar. I didn't study them side by side to notice that the Weril had a longer leadpipe. I thought that between the one Weril and the one Yammy 621 that I played, that the Weril was more free blowing and had a better low register. The Weril didn't get as blatty in the low range as the Yammy. Now, that could have just been those 2 horns. Of course, the price difference was huge with the Yammy being 3 times as much as the Weril.
Last year, I bought a Yammy 621 mostly because I got a good deal on one. I'm very happy with what I use it for!!
