I would like to purchase an F tuba. I have a Meinl-Weston 2145 CC that I currently use for everything. I would use this horn for quintet and solo work and might play it for fun in community band. I don't want to spend $$$$$ but would like to have a decent instrument. I have played one Mirafone F tuba, 5 rotary valves, but didn't really play it enough to get a feel for it. Thanks

I have heard good things about Miraphone's new "Firebird" F, I personally haven't played it, but make sure that you play plenty of F's before you buy.

I have played the firebird and it is quite nice. Personally in that price range I prefer the Gronitz (PF125), but that is a piston vs. rotor thing. Play as many as you possibly can.
