I am considering selling my MW2145 CC and purchasing a MW 45SLP F tuba. I was going to use this as my only horn. I play in a brass quintet, community band, and occasionally at church.
Would this be a good choice for an all around tuba or should I just keep my CC.

OOPS, I misread. I thought you were gonna sell the F for a 4/4 CC.

I'm all F all the time.

I'd say that as long as you don't have a very specific need, e.g., laying the foundation for a symphony orchestra, then you should play the horn that sounds and feels best to you--whatever key, shape, color, finish, brand that may be.

personally,i've got to have a solid,comfortable,natural sounding low register for all those ensembles.I've never achieved that on an f,even the yfb822 i had.The 2145 would be my choice.If you said"I'll primarily be a soloist with an occasional quintet or church gig" i might go with the slp. I've found for most of the quintet gigs i have ,a small contrabass tuba is the right choice(my 52j).If i played primarily"art" quintet music-Bozza,etc.,i'd probably go with an f.Just my take.I hope to never be in a position to only own one tuba again...
