Can anyone help me out with a scanned copy of the tuba parts to the following pieces? A previous school quintet lost all the tuba parts, we have everything else. Thanks!

Instead of asking for ILLEGAL scans to be sent to you on a PUBLIC forum, how about going directly to the publishers or a dealer and asking for the parts that are missing

Although I am 100% against asking for the ILLEGAL scans here on TubeNet, if you do it at least specify the publisher for the Ewald's! There are many versions available!!!! There is only only one publisher for the Husa.

If you've ever tried to order a single part for a published ensemble you would give this advice. I've ordered, or tried to order, parts for quintets, full band and orchestra; on occassion I've gotten it. I remember receiving some band parts so long after the order was placed that I had changed jobs twice. Ordering parts is a joke for the most part.

I know... publishers on Tubenet are different. However, I've seen the folders for a couple of full-time quintets and the reality is that they use photocopied parts like the rest of us.

So, if someone on Tubenet has parts they can photocopy, contact mdc2d and help him out. He's already paid the price and I'm sure he will make a good faith effort to order the parts... won't you?

One side story, there was a really fine quintet, The Modern Brass Quintet (Lew Waldeck on tuba) who developed a great book of contempory works. Much of this through personally wrangling a piece out of some unsuspecting composer (from a conversation with Lew).

The group gradually moved apart and one player lost his book. Because all of the parts were originals, the rest of the books were useless. There were no copies of any of the music and, in many cases, no scores. Several pieces by landmark composers were lost, never to be heard again.

This is the best advice! I was in a quintet when one of the players quit and kept his book - made the rest of the books useless. I learned from that and always handed out copies and kept the originals. Then there are the times that you play an outdoor gig and the wind blows a part away or it suddenly rains. It's better to have the originals in a file cabinet.

I agree with Doc, but my point is that you should at least try to get the parts from the publisher before asking in a public forum for someone to send you scans.

My version is probably not the version in your folder because you are not missing Ewald 1, but from the link above you can buy an individual part or the whole deal.

Please send me an email off the list of the publishers for the charts and I will see what I can get for you. No guarantees, but there is a possibility I can find a few of the missing parts for you.

If the missing parts are for the school library, why not have the school deal with it?
