I have uploaded 5 solo tracks (with more to come) and 2 quartets on my Acid Planet homepage.
These feature my vintage euphoniums recorded live at the recitals at St. Mary's with Malcolm Stowell on piano.

Hi Jay,

No problem. Firstly, the instrument is not compensating.

The 4th. valve gives you the extended chromatic range down to the pedal but is not enough to get the lowest notes down in pitch, the 5th. valve therefore adds another semitone.

The beauty of the 5th. valve is also that being last in line in the conical taper, it has the biggest bore and you can get a really good sound on it.

Yes, a 1902 small (narrow) shank (tenor tbn size) and small bell, just a bit bigger than a baritone horn, though the bore through the valves is quite large !

Have just added 'Elsa's Procession to the Minster' from Lohengrin by Wagner.

It's an arrangement I did for 8 piece brass and organ, recorded live at a concert in St. Mary's.

The line up was soprano cornet, 2 flugel horns, tenor horn, 2 baritones, euphonium, tuba & organ.
