favourite oils for stainless valves

Post by Paul S »

After looking through the archives I thought I would toss this question up to see if there are new opinions out there on favourite oils being used on the stainless steel piston valves being produced on the B&S and Meinl Weston tubas and euphoniums. Experiences in both cool and very warm perfoming situations would be useful to hear.

I have been using Yamaha premium oil on both of my horns as it has seemed to take the heat quite well this summer while the Al Cass Fast oil that was a mainstay on my Getzen cornet seemed to fail me at times.

I used to use Al Cass but it wasn't working too well for me this summer either. When I got my new tubas I bought Hetman Professional oils and slide gels and they work magnificiently! I bought them because of the suggestions on this forum, actually, and I'm pretty dang happy with them!
