New Laptop...recommend some gadgets

After slogging along on an old iMac for many moons, I finally took the plunge and bought a new computer. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for how to accessorize. For one, I could use some decent speakers. I'm willing to spring for something decent but would like to avoid breaking the bank. I'm also looking at recording interfaces. (i.e the gadget that connects the mic to the computer) There seems to be a very wide range of prices out there. I once recorded with a friend of mine using one of the very cheapest and it sounded really good. Then again, other people have told me that you will get what you pay for.

Cambridge Soundworks multimedia/computer speakers, designed by Henry Kloss. It's the best sound you can get for $80; the bass is remarkable for a small system, and mid and treble are clear and clean. It consists of a subwoofer and 2 satellite speakers. The system can work off 110v or 12v.

I really, really like my M-Audio Mobile Preamp and two Peavey M-1 mics for field recording. The M-Audio is USB powered (no extra brick) and supplies phantom power to the mics. I have recorded my last 3 band CDs with this setup and it works great.
