Since upgrading to Winows XP I have not been able to run Encore notation software. Through snooping around a little I have discovered that the good folks who produce Encore will be happy to sell me an upgrade for a mere $130. Anyone out there have any tricks to get around having to pay for this upgrade which really should be free?

I don't want to switch to a new type of software, not even one that is free so don't even suggest it.

When I found out I was going to have to re-purchase the program, I also had a meltdown. I looked long and hard for ways around it, but couldn't find any. I went and purchased a different program (Allegro by Finale) and didn't like it anywhere near my old Encore. Used it for several frustrating months before giving in to Encore to rebuy the program. Now I'm back to quickly and comfortably writing music like the old days; So, get in line for being held hostage.

Set the drive up for dual boot. Then you can run the software on the old operating system when you need it.

From an old Encore user, go buy Sibelius. It is Encore on steroids. Even the full Finale won't satisfy you
