Mouthpiece for MW 2141

Post by Rommel72 »

Ok, i recently purchased a Meinl Weston 2141 Eb tuba. I am wondering what kind of mouthpiece would be a good match for this particular horn. Anyone with some imput, please feel free to leave a post. Thanks.

I have only play tested a 2141 a few times, but I am very happy with my LM-15 (Hauser Loud Mouthpiece) on my Besson 983 Eb. I find it to give combination of easy low range with a nice sounding upper range.

I've played a number of 2141s with different mouthpieces, and at ITEC I got to try a bunch of them (GW, Loud, etc.) on a number of Ebs. The Mike Finn's are my choice. The MF-2 is worth a look - solid core and a broad sound well suited to the 2141.

I use a Wick 3L. It helps center the pitch extremely well throughout the range of the instrument.
