Hi,
probably best to stick with one rim... That's the way the system was designed. The first piece has a C4 rim. Comfortable and rounder, the newer version is a bit thinner and slightly sharper.
Both work wonderful, but stay with the same rim. The orchestral version, (2006) is a bit heavier and is a bit more dense in the sound.
