I need a finigering chart, or a link to one, that shows a tuba with a 5th valve that goes a step and a half. E-mail me at
tubamaster_1@yahoo.com.

Do you really mean the flat whole step? I don't believe 5th valves are made to a full step and a half, unless you have the slide pulled way, way out, as that is what 12 or 3 is usually for, of course. Some older thumb valves are the equivalence of 23, which is two whole steps, to fill in the gap between 3 and 4 to have a single valve do the Major 3rd interval down.
What is your tuba? That might shed more light. Also, in the tips section of this very forum are fingering charts for all four major pitches of tubas.

There are several flavors of fifth valves. The most common today is the flat whole step. There is also the half-step fifth valve. The older German rotary valved tubas such as Miraphone and Meinl Weston, originally were equipped with 1 1/2-step descending fifth valves.

As a starting point, see Example 2:

A one-and-one-half step fifth valve is unusual; that would be a minor third, the same as a conventional third valve. Is that really what you have?

The "flat 1st" configuration is what we are used to seeing here in the States, but the "min 3rd" configuration is not at all unusual.
Use your ear....or check some German sites....
Enjoy!

So, is this to go along with 3 being pulled to make 23 in tune, or with 3 as two full steps?
