AFAIK, the 3400 still comes wtih long 1 and a 23 extension slide. I've gone back and forth between the setups and find that some notes seem to speak a little better with the 23 extension (e.g. low G) than with the long 1. But it's not a major distraction for me, so I leave the extension off.
For me, the leadpipe's exactly the right height, but then I'm on the tall side. Yoiu might want to investigate a playing stand for the instrument if the leadpipe's too high. The Willson's a heavy instrument (heavier than many 4/4 BBb tubas)--a stand may give your legs a little relief too.
Willson Eb, fifth valve length?
