I disagree, the video is jerky but it looks real to me after several viewings. Of course, I'd sleep better if you were right.

Who cares? Is it important to you to be better than this person (dubbed, or not), or as good as you can be, and are you even trying for the same jobs?

Listen to the real, not synthesized, sousaphone players in banda music. Some of them are as good as this fellow, or even better!

He sounds great! But you should hear Sam Pilafian on Sousaphone......seriously will take you breath away...he should do an entire album on sousaphone and dixieland trombone!!

Dubbed or not, it's still fun to listen to. What a fun tune! Anyone know the name of it?

Can anyone recommend some great CDs of Banda music (tuba-wise)?

Here's mine..........

Come to think of it, maybe it wasn't the tuba that made me buy the CD! :D

Thanks for the link; I love it and am sending it to my tuba students.

I have been told that in Brazil CC tubas are the standard instrument; That's why Werils in CC are still available. The Weril catalog also lists valve trombones in C. I am wondering if they make CC sousphones down there? (I wouldn't want one myself, but I know that some of you guys would be interested.)

Meh... growing up listening to Gene, Arnold, and Pat (Sheridan), I really didn't think that was that awesome. The only particularly neat part is the squealing/fast part at the end, which I bet most of the pros/tuba players on here could do anyway!

Granted improv is on a different level, so to speak, but has anyone on here ever heard Marty Erickson? His shows rule! He does some crazy tuba improv stuff.

I may be wrong but he appears to be playing an Eb Sousaphone.

It was a stool, and that WAS something!

Unfortunately I don't have a video camera, or boy howdy, I'd have "Mary Had a Little Lamb" up in no time!!
