CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOL LOW BRASS PLAYERS:

Have you've dreamt of playing in Carnegie Hall? Can you imagine taking private lessons from NY City professional musicians? Do you long to perform the best orchestral literature with famous soloists? Are you dying to explore chamber music for your instrument ? Sounds like Children's Orchestra Societyis a perfect fit for you!

COS's faculty are superb professional musicians who perform regularly in New York City as well as all over the world. They hold degrees from some of the most prestigious music schools in the world and their students regularly win competitions and top chairs.

There are plenty of performance opportunities at COS. The top orchestra, the Young Symphonic Ensemble (YSE), will perform at Carnegie Hall in June with guest artists Jaime Laredo (violin) and Sharon Robinson (cello) performing the Brahms Double Concerto. Last year's rep included Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Brahms' Academic Festival Overture and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2. The YSE performs every year with major soloists such as Richard Stoltzman and Yo Yo Ma. Students perform in like and mixed chamber ensembles coached by COS faculty.

We are currently looking for low brass students to fill out our program. Scholarship money is available as well!

Founded in 1962 by Dr. H.T. Ma, the Children's Orchestra Society (COS) has been under the leadership of Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma and Maestro Michael Dadap since 1984. Beginning with an 18-member ensemble, COS has now grown to more than 200 members comprising four orchestras, chamber music and musicianship classes, the Instrumental Technique Advancement Program, and private lessons in strings, winds, brass and percussion.
