Edwards is not making low conical brasses. Yet it might be of interest for you to watch the first of their upcoming series of videos on brass production:

While the video doesn't let me doubt the craftsmanship shown, it certainly illustrates a number of factors potentially behind inconsistencies among production line instruments.

...and that's a guy spinning a little bitty trombone bell--can you imagine what it takes to spin a Kaiser tuba bell?

I once watched a fellow at the UMI factory spin a sousaphone bell. He had what was basically a baseball bat to form the bell to the mandril. Very muscular work, but also very delicate!
