COC Ring Cycle

Tonight was the final performance of the first Ring cycle ever performed in Canada. It was performed by the Canadian Opera Company, Richard Bradshaw conducting, in celebration of the opening of their new opera house in Toronto. The performances were broadcast live across the country by CBC FM radio between Monday and today (Sunday). This is a tremendous undertaking for the orchestra as well as the singers, but the performances were excellent. The broadcast sound picked up a series of really wonderful performances by tubist Scott Irvine. The Wagner tubas also sounded unusually well in tune.
My wife and I (and a number of my students) stayed glued to radios at every opportunity and enjoyed the performances tremendously.
Bravo to Scott and the COC!
