I think you'll enjoy living in Houston. It is much less pretentious than Dallas, and much easier going.

But you will probably find that the music scene doesn't offer quite as many opportunities. Houston's culture is like Fort Worth's, built-in rather than pasted-on. Sometimes you have to dig deeper to find it, but when you do, it can be more organic.

I'm actually pretty close to you - moved to SW Lewisville a year ago. I've been a tacit tubist for a few years now, but am trying to climb back to mere incompetence!

My only horn is a huge old 3v Martin, but I'd be interested in trading for something large but more modern - let me know if you happen to know of anyone in the area who's interested in a swapping for a beautiful huge antique (1919, silver, pretty good sound but it's only .727" bore.).
