Help with old trombone ID?

I know, I could go to the trombone sites, but this is easier, and I don't have to register at a bunch of places I won't go back to anyway.
I inherited a trombone that I didn't even know was in the family until recently. It is marked "Sonata Professional, Elkhart, IN" on the bell. This horn was my maternal grandmother's, it was purchased in the 30's by my great grandfather, probably used at that time.
I picked it up on a recent trip back to my home state of Iowa. Mr. Lee Stofer was kind enough to look at it when I paid him a visit, he mentioned that the counterweight was Blessing-esque.
Anybody heard of the brand?
