Hi all,

Please, before the flames start, I did search with unsatisfactory results for prior discussions that might answer my question.

I'm looking for a single mute that I can use for both my Nirschl 4/4 and my YFB-822. I've considered velcro-ing some extra cork on a moderately sized mute but are there any mutes out there that you might know of that might suffice? I'm cool with a mute sticking out a little on the F if the sound is alright.

I mean... it's not like I'm expecting a mute to improve the sound at all. Ew... muted tuba.

Thanks for your consideration!

R&S mutes are adjustable. I think these are those little black mutes that you can adjust the "cork".

I do not have any idea if folks consider these to be satisfactory mutes or not. muted tuba = yuck

I recently bought the Ron Apperson mute that he makes for F tubas. It fits both my 2155 and Alex F.

That R&S mute looks like it might fit the bill. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Other options are still more than welcome.

Thanks so much!

I have the Humes & Berg 208 (Large) aluminum mute, which works well with my 4/4, and also with my little Yamaha 621 C tuba.
