Can anyone ID the tuba player? It was recorded up at Skywalker Sound, so I'd guess it's a Bay Area stud...

Pete Wahrhaftig maybe? The Horn kinda looks like the rotary Culbertson. Maybe John Van Houten? Whoever it is, he sounds great. Anyone know whos playing bass bone?

Maybe what he's talking about is all the lacquer flying off the string instruments. Or perhaps "melting" or "spontaneously combusting" might be a more apt description.

With that kind of buzz, I'd say the brass might've been flexing a little, so if they were lacquered, I think they may have been shedding a little... :shock: :D

Hmmph!! I ordered the soundtrack CD, just 'coz I like stuff like this. Imagine my dismay when this cue was NOT included!! It's in the movie, and it sounds like they had the bone/tuba section pretty hot in the mix. Nice score, at any rate, but I'm a little let-down.

Oh well - live and learn, I guess...
