Besson Serial Number???

Post by Dan Schultz »

I checked the normal sources (Kirsmer, etc.) and drew a blank on Besson serial number 550246. Does anyone have any information?

It looks like you'll have to hope someone has a # in that neighborhood and knows the date. I get nothing searching the Besson frameset site and the old Besson site is defunct, too. I can't think of another site that has that information--curious that Kirmser doesn't have it, though. :?

The chart here:
http://www.saxworx.com/boozy2.htm
would put it at mid 1974. Is that consistent with the model and its details?

Yes! Just by looking at the horn I guessed early 70's. Thanks! I'll remember that page.

if it's seventies and it's a euph, you could tell wheteher t's euro shanked or not. Early if euroed...

I'm not sure if the tubae changed shank size at the same time.
