I read your previous post and I wouldn't sell it. You wouldn't get much for it anyway with it being a 3 valve Eb. (probably less than $1000) You may as well keep it and use it for situations where it fits the bill. Good luck and enjoy. Also welcome back to tubadom.fulerzoo wrote:I want to post an update on this 1918 Conn Eb seen here viewtopic.php?t=16000&highlight= I found a King mouthpeice that seems to work well on this horn and after a session with a tuner it playes fairly well in tune. The few off notes are easily lipped into tune. Actually, I am amazed at how in tune it is over its range in general. I had previously cut this horns main tuning slide down to bring it up to modern A=440 pitch. The King mouthpeice helped free up the lower range and the low Bb now speaks pretty well.
I took the horn to my brass band rehearsal last night (I had been transposing the Eb tuba part on my BBb) and was amazed at how well it played and how good it sounded. I wish I had worked the bugs out of this horn many years ago. It's a fine horn and I will play it often! You could hear the ghosts of almost 100 years ago sing again..........
