lmao thanx......well I went and it didnt turn out as well as planned because I had played all day in rehearsal, practicing for the audition, and the extensive audition recording itself . I had no lip left and ended up settling with a recording including a completely missed main high note just because I couldnt go any longer. (pretty sad/amazing considering how much of a self critique I am) Too bad I couldnt have any other time to do a recording but after all, I missed the original deadline and never di expect to make/audition for the band anyway so if worst comes to worst, I dont make it and it doesnt bother me haha. Like they say, all state band isnt everything, its just another experience. If I do make it, i know for sure there werent many euphonium auditions but at least I can say I gave it a try!!! .....Im definitely going to bring on the heat next year!

Don't beat yourself up over it.
A couple of months ago I had two patriotic performances (one outdoor), then the next day an outdoor orchestra rehearsal (in documented 100+ degrees) and later that same evening an outdoor fireworks concert, and then two days later an early morning audition. Oh, and on the day inbetween found out my wife was preggers again and we went minivan shoping from dawn til dusk.
I figured the one day off inbetween would be enough for recovery - but since most of my practicing for the last few months had been indoor with a mute, all the outdoor playing was more than my endurance was ready for. While all the concerts came off very well, I had no chops for about three days afterwards. Not to mention a few things on my mind. Needless to say it was some of the worst playing since my age has been double digit.
These things happen. The bad playing days too.

P.S. Do they call it a "tubEH" up there?

If you went down, you went down swinging. Gotta respect that!
What did we learn-a hard lesson, perhaps:
1. Don't over rehearse close up to an important performance. My psychology teacher told me that thinking about performing-without physically doing it can improve your execution with no wear and tear on the chops. Do that, if possible soon before you perform. Pretend in your mind that you're performing. Visualize being a big hit.
2. Beating yourself up never helps you and there are many others that would be thrilled to do it for you. That doesn't help you either.
3. You are young and there will be more opportunities. Work your tail off and you will be a mean little threat next time, TO RULE.
