Just wondering... do other brass players make frankenhorns like this, or is this practice just a tuba thing?

I've put together some pretty strange stuff for trumpet players. Those guys are nuttier than a fruitcake!

Lessee--trombone players routinely pair their favorite slide with their (different) favorite bell. Horn players must trade bells like marbles, if even non-equipment-freaks like Mary Ann have done it. Trumpet players, well, you know.

So, I would have to say the answer is yes.
