The November issue of
The Music Trades Magazine has an ad with the website
http://www.wnirschl.com, but there is just a placekeeper at that site now. The ad has the new W. Nirschl logo and the slogan: "American Design. German Engineering."

Gemstone will be at Mid-West with two Nirschl 4/4 CC's. One a handmade tuba and the regular model that is well known. They are also going to have Walter's Euphonium (new?) available.

Ok, there is a big debate going on one of the repair sites I visit. These Nirschl brass are being made in India, from what I've been told so far. I'd be interested to see what they look/play like.

Oh... I missed that thread 'cause it was disguised as 'Kalison'. I've missed something here though.. ... I thought Walter Nirschl was in the old Bohm & Meinl factory. I'm particularly interested in the Walter Nirschl/B & M lore since the Marzans were also made there in the 70's.

What about the Nirschl Eb? Will that instrument be put into production again?

My understanding was that Gemstone is having Nirschl develop low brass which will be made in India but only for the school market. I don't even know if it will have Nirschl's name on it.
Gemstone currently has a sax which has been shopped around the country successfully. I don't know how widely it's been sold. They also have the ubiquitous Gemeinhardt flute.
Nirschl will make his CC tubas for the professional market in Germany. At least, that's the way I understand it. Ask them at Mid-West.

So, how does one pronouce "Stephanhöuser" and whence comes the name?
