Boy, they got a King 3-banger, front action, Eb , bell forward for $595.
That 24 inch bell makes nice false tones.
If it's a good player, that would be the tuba I'd want. 8)

Hmmm... that's an old King model 1235. The bell is 22". I play a 4V version of this same horn. Great for Dixieland stuff but not worth a damn if you plan to play it in a section where intonation matters!

You didn't know?! You're supposed to play it with your fist in the bell to adjust the intonation. The "French Tuba" tradition, I believe it's called.

They use specially trained dogs for that purpose now, I'm told. Much faster, and much more pitch sensitive...

The removable bell on my 1940 King top action Eb measures 24 inches. I incorrectly assumed a King 1235 would be the same. My King has a flat eighth partial that I almost can't lip up enough and my low Eb is sharp at high volume but easy to lip in if I remember in time.
