I wanted this :
Willson 2975
I got this instead :
1968-ish Boosey&Hawkes Imperial
The horn is terrific. I compromised because of the price of the Willson but am very glad I did .

Mid 40's with wife and son, career, house, etc. -- I'll probably still get a sweater from my mother in, well, not exactly complementary colors.

I might have to work and I don't mean playing the tuba.
Christmas is not a holiday in Vietnam.

I don't really care what others buy me. My wife and I have a policy of buying items in the order of a family checklist. I am the guy with everything so my son gets me a loud shirt every gift day-now he's got the grandson competing for the wildest shirt for "Poppy".
I asked the boys to skip the shirt this Christmas because my closet is about to burst (they're not the only ones to buy me loud shirts) and split a Play Station 2. We have Play Station 1 working fine and will buy"3" when it gets down to $125.
I don't want anyone buying my tools or musical instruments. I can kill or embarass myself just fine with the equipment I have.

Right about that, Doc.
The main focus of Christmas is playing carols with a couple hundred other tuba players!!!
And comfort and joy, merry and bright, peace and love, yadda, yadda, yadda . . . .
