I remember reading here that you can go to Japan and try the YamaYork copy. I'm going to Tokyo in a couple of weeks and would like to do just that. Can anyone tell me where to find it? Thanks.

You might want to contact their offices there to see if they have one on hand, otherwise, you're VERY unlikely to be able to play one because there are only a handful around and they are mostly owned by (or loaned long term to) professional tubists.
In fact, I think there are more YamaYorks in California alone than in Japan.

Yamaha CC 826 6/4 prototype copy of the "better" of Mr. Jacobs' Yorks.
Since it is a prototype, it's unlikely any member of the public will get to honk on one for a long time.
Perhaps the original poster will be one of the lucky few able to make arrangements to play one.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can buy one. It seems as if the top pros in Japan and the U.S. get the instruments free on long-term loans in return for their feedback and use of the instrument. Everything built to date has been another prototype, so a "production model" that they could sell doesn't seem to exist.runelk wrote:How much are they going for?

If Dale is correct (and what says is entirely plausible), then it might be pretty easy to get a Yamayork. Here's the process:Tom wrote:I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can buy one.runelk wrote:How much are they going for?
1. Become a world-class orchestral tuba player.
2. Express interest to Yamaha.
