I spent a fair amount of time with the 821 at ITEC. Beautiful sound, good intonation, and all the usual salient features of the 621. I would guess that it is still small enough by tuba standards that you'd have little use for it in groups larger than a quintet, but I can't imagine a much better "small" horn. The rep told me that they must be custom ordered and go for around 9k.

I played a Kalison F briefly at a regional conference two years ago, the model number of which escapes me. The low range was as free blowing as anything Yamaha has made; the high range was thin and "brittle" sounding. I posted here after that experience just to see if anyone else had played one; the post got no replies. It needed to be tweaked, but struck me as a very promising design given the problems they had solved.

In any case, I went with the MW Eb in the end.
