I think something that would truly raise the profile of the euphonium is to for our great euphers to sell their cds to a larger public.....i think it would be nice to go to Wally world and go to the electronics department and see the names Adam Frey, Brian Bowman...ect. Plus, it'd be more convinient to go to the store to get euph cds. Any thoughts or am I just crazy? (I am crazy anyway, so I guess it really does not matter.)

That's what I used to think, but imagine my surprise when I was looking through iTunes and found LOTS of tuba and euphonium recordings from famous artists! It was a little tough to know they were there because the search tool didn't work very well (i.e. searching for "euphonium" didn't produce much). But I have gleaned as many as could find and listed them on this page:

I suppose that if they sell some they will be encouraged to carry more. Unfortunately, the older classic recordings are not there yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open!

Has anyone had tuba-euphonium luck on the OTHER download sites like MusicMatch, etc.? I figure no site is going to carry all the euphonium or tuba artists, but if one doesn't have the player you want, maybe another would.

The whole pay-for-download thing is a pretty cool invention! Many times I would prefer to have the "hard copy" CD, but sometimes it is nice to download immediately, and sometimes I may only want a few tracks of an album. And it makes it possible for a big company like Apple to carry artists who would not otherwise make them enough money to produce and distribute a real CD.

Just make sure to back up the downloads or burn them to CD. It is really easy to lose an electronic music file if your portable player dies!!
