It is amazing how often that is the case!
Recently I went along to a rehearsal with an orchestra which I do not usually play. I arrived as they were working on a piece in which I was not playing, so I went and sat down in the auditorium to listen. My eyes were soon drawn to a gorgeous girl over the other side of the hall, a real beauty and naturally went over to say hello - and yes it turned out she was the harpist.
Incidentally, I later saw her with the boy friend, so that didn't go anywhere

This post calls to mind the difference between a bull and an orchestra.
The bull has the horns in front and the [censored] in back.

I heard this on NPR radio this past weekend while driving back from NC. It was attibuted as being written by Toby Appel—who is a Professor at Juilliard and plays viola in the NY area. What a gas!

This is shorter, and not as subtle, as Garrison Kiellor's "Young Lutheran's Guide To The Orchestra", but I just read the whole thing when I should be practicing. So what does that say about me?
