Hi everyone,

I recently got asked to play this piece with the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble. I'm not 100% sure as to which tuba I want to play it on, so I thought I'd get some feedback from the peanut gallery.

I'm trying it out on both tubas, so just thought I'd get some more information from people.

Wow, a lot of F/Eb responses. Any reasons why you voted which way?

It being a solo work, i would assume the smaller the tuba the more clarity in the sound. This work can (and is one some recordings) be played very fast, some faster than marked.

I've worked on this piece myself, and would not play it on a C tuba or a contrabass tuba. It being accompanied by a brass band suggests to me to play it on an Eb tuba, but who listens tradition these days. Play it on what is most comfortable for you!
