Øystein Baadsvik's Recording of Kalevi Aho's Tuba Concerto

Post by Steve Marcus »

from the Contrabassoon List:
I have just received an email from Robert von Bahr, president and owner of BIS AB Records
regarding the release date of my performance of Kalevi Aho's Contrabassoon Concerto with
the Bergen Philharmonic (Norway), Andrew Litton conducting. The official release date is set
for February 8, 2007. This piece will be coupled with a fantastic performance of Aho's Tuba
Concerto played by Oystein Baadsvik.
Since the Tuba Concerto is considerably shorter (by
around ten minutes), and much lighter in character, it will lead off the CD, followed by the
Contrabassoon Concerto. I have a CD-R of the final mix of the Contra Concerto, and the
sonic impact is amazing. I am also an audiophile, and am sure that this CD will become one
of "those" reference recordings to see if your audio system is functioning properly. More
information about where and how to obtain a copy of this CD (after 2/8/07) can be found
from the various worldwide importers for BIS. The US importer is Qualiton, and can be found
on the web at www.Qualiton.com.

Very best wishes to everyone,
Lew Lipnick
