I just got home from a great concert! The New York Philharmonic performed Short Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams, Grand Canyon Suite by Grofe, Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, Four Dances from Rodeo by Copland, and The Stars and Stripes Forever. Hats off to Alan Baer from the third tier you were amazing! The technique required in the Grofe was astounding. (The Low Brass soli in the last movement) The Copland was inspiring and the Sousa was truly great. If you are in the area, I highly suggest you get yourself to NYC. If you can sound that good in the Sound-Trap known as Avery Fisher you are world-class. If only we could get them back into Carnegie somehow. I love NY!
