Comparison with a similar sousaphone shows that the leadpipe is bent in a way that is probably not original:

I'd like to throw in a few question here before seeing a technician:
-would you agree that the leadpipe is crooked?
-can this thing be easily bent back?
-what do think of my alternative solution: to replace the straight section of pipe that enters the leadpipe (part of the gooseneck) by a slightly larger section with a "counter bent' to it. This will slightly change the tuning, which I can easily compensate with the tuning slide.
-do you have a better idea?
