Valve sets MW: 2141/45SLP/2145/2155/2165

Post by jon112780 »

Are they (4 piston/ 1 rotar) the same?

The MW website mentions the bore sizes are the same (you have to look at the specs individually), so is it possible to buy just the valveset and slides by themselves?

Some time ago, someone mentioned putting the 45SLP(F) leadpipe on the 2165(CC) and the horn just played better... any more info???

'If' the valvesets are the same and the length from the reciever to the valveset is similar, how do you figure out which leadpipe to use? Physics or trial and error... Maybe both?

There are those that know more than me on this, but being no one has posted, I'll bite.

I own a 2000 and a 2165 with a slp reciever. From what I can see the valves and slides themself are exact (and interchangable... I tried once and it worked out fine).

It appears to me that the knuckle connecting the leadpipe to the actual vavles might vary in size and perhaps angle. My slp leadpipe has a noticable expansion about 3/4 of the way down to make it go smoothly into the existing one. Outside of that they're the same.

I bought the horn after the conversion to the custom lead pipe so I can't say what difference there is, but it feels pretty good for a 2165 to me.

The 2141 Eb is listed as .748 bore, with a .768 rotary valve.

All (?) of the CC horns appear to have a graduated bore from .748 to .787, with the rotary 5th of .807 bore.

I've wondered how the Eb would play with the larger CC graduated bore. I'm assuming this has been checked and discarded by M.W. for intonation reasons. The 2141 bore is already larger than the Willson (which quotes outside rather than inside diamater measurements -- see an earlier post I made on that toic) -- so it may well be fine as is.
