Many public broadcasting services in Europe have their own orchestras. The most famous ones in Germany are probably Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and NDR Sinfonieorchester, but there are many others. The BBC Symphony Orchestra is also well known (perhaps mainly for their Proms concerts) and Danmarks Radio Symfoniorkester is the most prominent orchestra in Denmark.

In other places, such as in Iceland, the National broadcasting service supports the local orchestra (in our case, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra) to an appreciable extent.
