Hello all.

I have read earlier where a few people mentioned putting a smaller MW 45-SLP leadpipe on the MW 2165 CC and that they liked the results and how it made the big horn a little easier to manage, provided more core to the sound (Miraphone has also done this with the 1292).

I'm just curious, has anyone out there experimented with the same thing on a Rudy Meinl 5/4 CC tuba? Any results? Thoughts? Let me hear 'em.

I doubt there is a leadpipe from some other tuba that could be re-shaped and mate to the .866 bore of the valve it has to connect to. .866 is really big, too big IMHO.

Somebody would likely have to make you a new pipe or rig up part of a smaller mouthpipe with some custom fabrication on the big end to make it fit.

I do think it would be a very good idea, I think a smaller leadpipe would have to enhance the playability of that instrument.
RM leadpipes get a lot bigger earlier than most manufacturers leadpipes I have seen.

Rudolf Meinl might improve the low register response some and am researching what leadpipes might fit.
