Anyone tried/own one of these? How is the intonation? Any general helpful comments? How about the low register response? Just curious. I know it will never produce the sound that a big F will, at least from looking at the specs, but am interested in it as a solo/quintet horn.

That's a nice looking F tuba. I have not played one, but would like to take the horn for a spin. It comes with a 4+1, or a 5+0 rotor configuration.

That's the one, Ace. I used to own an OLD M-W 45, and before that a Musica F, so I'm eager to hear if anyone has tried one of these Cervenys. (I'm pretty sure the Musica I had may have been a Cerveny stencil, anyway)

I used to own the older Amati version of the 654 6V with a "quint" 5th valve and a half-step 6th. The low C was typical for the rotary F tubas -- not absolutely horrible, but not nearly as easy as a Miraphone Firebird or 181.

It could have been mpc selection, but towards the top of the staff with mine, there were intonation problems -- it's been a long time, but I think it tended to be flat (maybe my fault).

I did like the sound. I did not keep it for my quintet horn because of the low C response (primary issue) and upper register intonation (secondary issue).
