Ballad and Presto Dance

Post by phoenix »

Has anyone else heard of this piece? And does anyone know if there is a recording of it anywhere? In case you've never heard of it, it's pretty difficult, goes up to an A above the staff , that's even tough on an F tuba, and it's written by Claude T. Smith.

Steve Seward recorded this piece on his Kansas City Dances CD. Try the usual online outlets to find a copy.

Good Luck

I like the piece. When it was published, I was the chairperson for the tuba section of the New York State (NYSSMA) contest manual. I wanted to include this piece in the manual as a level 6, but I couldn't justify it because of the high A's at the end. If Mr. Smith had only written in some octave divisi's there! Otherwise, I think it's a great piece.
