Best Tuba Player on the Planet

I don't know if this thread has ever been done before, but what is your choice (don't give long lists of great players, just a single name) for the greatest all around tuba player ever, alive or dead? Arnold Jacobs? Bill Bell? Roger Bobo? Rex Conner? Tommy Johnson? Cast your vote. I will get the ball rolling with my vote for Roger Bobo.

By the way, just for the sake of throwing this out there - if I never hear anyone humming through and playing their tuba again, that would be toooo soon for me

Really, all things considered, Tommy Johnson is the only one. Most heard player of all time. Period. There will never be another.

With that said, there sure some great players out there!

Oystein Baadsvik purely because his solo stuff is so incredibly musical.

The question is too vague. I think this is all relative. I bet Jim Dorschner plays a better polka bass line than Roger Bobo.

I've heard some stuff about him before, and my private teacher seems to think he's the greatest polka style player ever and we listened to something he played before. and those guys before reminded me of him. I haven't heard NEAR enough to say based on my own opinion though. I don't usually search out great polka style tuba players. You caught me in my inexperience...
