Bob- I've played both and BOUGHT the Norwegian Star. I was very impressed by the MW2040 but ergonomics were an big issue for me and the MW just wasn't comfortable. Also the MW has a very contrabass tuba sound in my opinion and I was looking for something lighter. As you've read here many times -you need to play them to really know them. I love my Norwegian Star- very comfortable- excellent valve action, a singing high register and very workable intonation. I've only had it about two months so I'm still in the getting acquainted stage, but thus far am very glad with my decision. A note about prices listed online- many dealers may have a low price listed but they may not have that horn in stock and often will wait to update their price when they recieve that item. When I bought my horn, the dealer (WWBW), had both the Miraphone and MW2040 in stock and there was only about an $800 difference in price. FWIW -- Jason
