A week with the Belgian Brass

We had the distinct pleasure and honor here way down south of hosting the quintet from this group for the last week and a day. They are some of the finest musicians I have ever worked with, and genuinely some of the nicest gentlemen I've ever had the pleasure to hang with. Do yourself a favor and see them play whenever you can. They've got two or three albums out and they're absolutely spectacular. I almost wanted to get on the plane to Brussels with them today when I dropped them off at the airport (especially when faced with the prospect of driving back to Athens in ATL traffic).....
Their regular tubist broke his leg in a skiing accident shortly before their trip across the pond, so they brought along with them the young Mr. Bernd van Echelpoel (sp?), a name that is familiar to anyone from the Lieksa Brass week. He's a talented young tubist, and moreover a great musician and it was an absolute blast playing next to him for a week. He's definitely a young star on the rise!!!
