Does anyone happen to know where one can find the original manuscript of the RVW Tuba concerto?

The reason I ask is because I want to study the original articulations put in by the master composer rather than the interpretation of Mr. Catelinet.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are two manuscript scores in the British Library in London. You have to jump through some hoops to get a BL card and get permission to view them. That information is online at the BL. I spent the good portion of a day studying them in 1995. There are some slur marks and a few other misc marks not in the printed score. A short cut to a London visit is to buy the most recent reprinting from Oxford Press and get ahold of the score that comes with the rental parts. The combination of those two seem very close to the original score. Your conductor or orchestra librarian can request a perusal loan of the rental score. On the other hand, a trip to London is always a good time!

It may not rate as one of the all time great masterworks, but it is probibly the greatest solo work for tuba! At least it is regularly performed in public concerts - in the UK, no doubt more than all later concertos for tuba put together.

BUT
The first movement candnza can make someone stop in their tracks,
the third movement can be a rollicking good time (excuse the lame ending),
and the second movement can make a 40 year old virgin cry.
