Throat Articulation..

Post by passion4tuba »

I have an issue with upward slurring. As I go upwards in the slur (from F to B flat for example), it (the slur) breaks with this funky "click" that happens in my throat. I have continued to try to do slur exercises such as flow studies and beautiful sound studies, but the "clicking" persists. My lesson teacher suggests I do simpler slurs such as an upward Remington exercise. Any other suggestions to fix this problem?

He warms up with an exercise just like the one that I described above.
Except he doesn't press any valves through the whole exercise.

More Flow Studies? :D

Also try depressing your valves on the note you're going to, ie, play the f then when slurring up the Bb depress all valves, that way you get used to the change in pressure.
