"The Lark in the Clear Air" is one of my favorites and I've heard a BB arrangement of it.

Ashokan Farewell, by Jay Ungar. The fiddle version is in print.

The song from the newer "Lassie" shows (not Greensleeves), is haunting, ethereal melody. It seems to have less than a 1 1/2 to 2 octave range (if I remember it correctly).

Nessun Dorma by Puccini is a gorgeous aria, and works very well an octave down. For an interesting twist, maybe look at Goodbye, Porkpie Hat by Charles Mingus or Three Views of a Secret by Jaco Pastorius. Those would need some creative arranging, but they are fantastic pieces.

The Last Rose of Summer might work. Nice flowing melody line.

I agree with Ashokan Farewell...my buddy plays it on t-sax all the time and its just a really contagious tune. You want to pick something that they'll be whistling a few hours after they've heard you.
