Bravo, Michael Sanders!

Three days ago, I got to see the St. Louis Symphony at Powell Hall, and the thing that immediately struck me is how great of a sound Michael Sanders has. I was also stuck by the great musicianship that he and the rest of the orchestra demonstrated. Even though I was in the nosebleeds, I could still hear him over every other wind player in the orchestra, (a definite bonus to the concert!) I just thought I'd give a little credit to one of the best tubists I've heard in awhile, especially seeing as his name never really comes up on those lists of great players that frequent this board so often.

Similar story.

I started listening to him after moving to Austin. A couple of us drove down to San Antonio for the symphony (we had season tickets)--this was back when Mike had his Alex. I have never forgotten that sound. Amazingly, he was willing to give me a few lessons when I started playing again, and hearing him play up close, and particularly out in the hall, made a huge difference in my understanding of good sound.
